Ravioli Maker Attachments
Many popular pasta machines and mixers have optional ravioli maker attachments and these are a great way to make the best use of your investment.
Because one of the key factors in making great homemade ravioli is to use fresh, silky pasta sheets, a pasta machine is a a kitchen appliance you should be looking to buy anyway (in case you’re tempted, the CucinaPro 150 Imperia Pasta Machine is a classic Italian pasta machine which is consistently the best selling pasta machine on Amazon.com, with a design that has hardly changed for decades. One of its many optional attachments is a ravioli maker – see below).
How to use a Ravioli Maker Attachment
To use a ravioli maker attachment you simply insert lengths of fresh pasta onto the specially designed rollers. Next, you spoon in your ravioli filling, and crank the handle or push the button. The ravioli attachment encapsulates the filling in the sheets of pasta and seals the edges.
You simply repeat this action until you have used the whole length of pasta. The result is a sheet of filled ravioli which can be separated by running a ravioli cutter, pastry wheel or knife between the rows.
Some ravioli maker attachments can be fiddly to clean however once you have your technique perfected there will be little residue on the maker to clean up, other than a light dusting of flour.
These attachments are best suited for making a large amount of ravioli and once you have a bit of practice you can do this surprisingly quickly. (For smaller batches, I find a ravioli mold or ravioli rolling pin to be better suited)

The KitchenAid Ravioli Maker Attachment attaches directly to your KitchenAid stand mixer. To make great ravioli you just add meat, cheese or any other filling between two sheets of fresh pasta and let the machine rollers create perfect plump ravioli.
